Where the toilet room or bathing room is for individual use and a clear floor space complying with 305 3 is provided within the room beyond the arc of the door swing doors shall be permitted to swing into the clear floor space or clearance required for any fixture.

For a forward approach transfer when a lavatory is installed beside the water closet there must be a clear floor space at the water closet that is a minimum 48 inches 1220 mm in width parallel to the back wall and a minimum of 66 inches 1675 mm in length. In addition there might be two doors within a restroom. A single wheelchair must be able to rotate freely inside a bathroom. A door may not swing into a required clear floor or ground space at a fixture. For a side approach transfer when a lavatory is installed beside the water closet there must be a clear floor space at the water closet that is a minimum of 48 inches 1220 mm in width parallel to the back wall and a minimum of 56 inches 1420 mm in length.
